Gabriel Melcher Studio is a design practice specializing in visual identity and editorial design.

Gabriel Melcher is a graphic designer and design director based in New York City. He has worked as a designer and as a leader of design teams and has experience across print, environmental, and digital platforms. Between 2019–2022 Gabriel led the design team at the fashion/tech platform SSENSE, including on projects for Humanrace, Burberry, Gucci, Maison Margiela, Vans, and Soho House. Between 2020–2022 he was Art Director for SSENSE’s biannual magazine. From 2016–2019, Gabriel worked as Senior Designer and Design Director at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, where he worked on an expansive range of projects, publications, and exhibitions including “Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech,” the MCA’s 50th Anniversary, and “Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg.”

Gabriel has conducted design workshops at School of the Art Institute Chicago and Harvard GSD and has served as guest critic at SAIC and Parsons School of Design.

Gabriel’s work has received recognition from the Type Director’s Club, the American Alliance of Museums, GDUSA, Wallpaper* Magazine, and AIGA.

He holds an MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (2016).
